Managing Stress

Q Task: Summarize Chapter 11 Managing Stress and Family in eight to twelve sentences long paragraph. Take the Social Readjustment Rating Scale: The Stress of Adjusting to Change test, Table 11.1 on page 327 (Goldsmith, 2013), report your score, and discuss the results. My score from the last 12 months was 139, 63 from death of grandmother, 36 from death of a close friend, and three trips. The book says I am within the lowest range, 0 to 150, giving 37% change of illness this year. Although I am in good health now, I experienced a series of health challenges back in Spring when these events happened only two months away from each other. The death of my grandmother was difficult because I was very close to her, and she did a lot for her children and grandchildren. She lived long and had no pain or illness, so that was the good part. Going for a service during regular CSUN session was disturbing and tiring. Then came a dear friend's sudden death, which crushed me heavily. My mind was totally numb for a week and took a month to feel somewhat normal. My family went on two camping trips and one railroad trip this summer, so this added13 (x 3?) for vacation stress. They were good experiences, but doing something different, I understand, creates some stress. Over all, it looks we should always care for ourselves to avoid illness! Looking back your Exam II experience, how many hours did you spend preparing? Write the actual number (to receive a credit) rather than vague 'not much' or 'a lot.' What were some of the study strategies worked well? How would you prepare differently for the final exam that is also cumulative? One of the topics for last week was Your Project. What did you do to move the Project forward last week? Did your team create or update the Project completion plan? If not, when do you plan to work on it??
